Besides the titular tale 'Beauty and the Beast', this volume includes 'The Mermaid and the Boy', 'The Princess Who Was Hidden Underground', 'The Girl Who Pretended To Be a Boy', 'Virgilius the Sorcerer', 'Fairer-Than-a-Fairy', and more.Andrew Lang is best known for these collections of fairy tales, and was an avid collector of folk and fairy tales. He was a Scottish poet, novelist, and literary critic.Illustrated by Henry Justice Ford, a noted English illustrator who is best known for his beautiful illustrations for Lang's works.Two pages of adverts to the rear. CONDITION In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Light marks to the boards, heavier to the rear board, with small damp stains. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Spine is a little discoloured. Light rubbing to the spine and extremities. Front hinge is a little strained but remains firm, rear hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots to the first and last few pages. Small closed tear to the margin of the title page. Overall Condition: Very Good GLOSSARY OF TERMS Overall Condition (Dustwrapper condition rating is shown after that for the book itself, where a dustwrapper is present) Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear Very Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy Very Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy Good - Meaning not very good.
