These were issued beginning in 1940. This note was printed by the “Chung Hwa Book Company” of Shanghai and is smaller in size than the Ten Yuan notes of 1936-37 printed in Britain. “The Central Bank of China” was located in Nanking (now Nanjing), China. After the “Chinese Civil War”, the bank was relocated to Taiwan by the Nationalist government. The bank was renamed to the “Central Bank of the Republic of China” in 1949. In 1961, the bank was replaced by the “Bank of Taiwan” as the central bank of Taiwan On July 7, 1937 the "Second Sino-Japanese War" began when Japan invaded China.
