New claims to fame in the 2002 version include faithful reproductions of all twelve pro stadiums and the ability to adjust batting stances and hitting positions at the box. Motion-captured movements also convey a sense of realism as outfielders cavort on screen and runners dash for the plate with heads bowed and legs splayed. They look just like Derek Jeter trying to beat out an infield hit. Japanese television announcer Kawamura Akira relays the play by play in fevered harangue and baseball commentator Horiuchi Tsune offers calmer, insightful commentary on the shenanigans on the field.
