Dozens of full page and two-page spreads and a very large [8-page] fold out map depicting the Centennial view from a balloon. Also includes a reprinting of the Declaration of Independence. Numerous issues and the large map depict various scenes and locations of Centennial Celebrations and speeches. There are also are numerous articles on the 1876 Primaries and Election between Tilden and Hayes; numerous articles on post Civil War Reconstruction. Nast illustration, General Custer and Little Big Horn! Here is a bound edition containing numerous issues. The complete run from June 3, 1876 through the end of 1876 + a couple of extras bound at the rear. I have completely examined this and the contents include: All 31 weekly issues [complete Run] from June 3, 1876 - December 30, 1876 These are issues in Volume XX, #1014 - #1044 : pages 441 through 1068 The 1st issue of 1877: January 6, 1877: Vol. XXI #1045: pps 1-24 Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper: March 4, 1876: #1066 Vol. XLI Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper: May 27, 1876: #1078 Vol. XLII 10¢ cover price Approx. 16" x 11 1/4" Extra Large newspaper Approx. 696 total pages Good: Binding has heavy wear to all extremities with lots of rubbing and cardboard showing. The interior issues are complete and mostly without tape, or cutouts, a couple of issues have a name written at top edge. There is paper repair to the first page, and many issues have pages with small tears or pieces missing; also there are a few large rips through an entire page. The Fold out map also has some minor damage [see pic]. Bug nibbling and loss of text to pages 617 and 619. Don't let the above dissuade you, overall in my opinion this is an amazing and important collection of historical material. Any damage is obviously due to the age of the paper, handling through the years, and the extreme weight of the volume.
