A tip for quick and easy prepping even if you don't have any tools or equipment: lay a coin face down on your index finger, take a thick emery board fingernail file, and file the back down flat in an effort to make the charm thinner and smoother on its backside). A slight bit of filing may be needed on the circular border also. Begin with a coarser emery board and finish with a fine emery board.
