Do not plant too deep Keep soil away from the crown of the root ball To maintain a healthy plant, water early morning so foliage and buds can dry before evening Provide good air flow Fertilizing: Spring/Summer During the first growing season feed with a liquid only/low nitrogen fertilizer, such as fish emulsion Apply to a well-watered plant every 4 to 6 weeks Late Fall, apply little to no nitrogen fertilizer such as bone meal. This will help next years growth If planted in the Fall, wait to fertilize next Spring Compost/mulch can steal nitrogen from your plant.
