Description: This 14 inch Back saw is marked Henry Disston & Sons DEHORNING SAW in the etch. I new when I listed a saw a few weeks back that I had seen a reference for a dehorning saw in a back saw, as soon as I wiped the dust off this saw I remembered this etch was my reference. Not sure if this made the catalogs as I have ploughed through all my papers and not found anything, google has been worthless as well. This all leads me to think it is a pretty scarce saw. I have not tried to clean anything, the patina is dark making the etch hard to see without light and angle, easy to get in person but not so easy to get in a picture, I had to use some pretty harsh lighting and angles to show the etch but no doubt, this is a dehorning saw. For information on old tools the resources at Mid West Tool Collectors Association are top notch. They have links collected there for everything antique tool related.https://mwtca.org/useful-reference/ Make sure to check out my other items, I will combine shipping just wait for the invoice. I am in a selling mood, it's not Christmas yet but schit has to go, offers is set to let me see offers that I don't think I'll take, might change my mind..........
