Tugboats were an important part of a railroad’s roster, they were a common sight around almost every harbor front. Often dressed in their railroad’s livery, tugboats became waterborne locomotives, hauling car floats across the harbor. This second generation of Lionel's tugboats now feature interior lighting, illuminated marker lights and an illuminated spotlight. The depth and clarity of the sounds are improved. Along with the authentic whistle are new seaside effects such as seagulls, waves and a foghorn. The mast rigging was redesigned for improved ease of assembly. Four AA batteries (not included) can power the lights and sounds in a display environment or you may choose to power it with an accessory transformer It is approximately 19 inches long x 5 inches wide x 11 inches tall.
