Description: Circa mid-century, here is an iconic Los Castillo necklace with spectacular azurite stones. The caged stone design is one which is often copied by other silversmiths - here you have an original. This necklace is composed of five oval azurite stones in settings which have "hands with five fingers" on the top of the stone. The stones are separated with silver balls, and the side chains have silver balls and long silver cylinders. This is all strung on a sterling silver chain, and the clasp is a long tongue in cylinder. Measures 15 5/8" closed, wearable length. Stone pendants hang down 7/8". Weight is 65.8 grams. Signed and hallmarked "Los Castillo Taxco Sterling Mexico", with the design #55. No eagle assay - likely late 1940's. In excellent vintage condition.
