Description: Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Marble Glass Plaque Framed Roman Emperor Titus Foster Brothers Frame Very interesting piece from the Grand Tour era. I bought this thinking (and I still believe) it is a Grand Tour souvenir from Rome from the late 1800s. I assumed it was marble but someone mentioned it could be glass which was an ancient Roman tradition. This is a cameo of Titus, one of the 12 Caesars from the early era of the Roman Empire after the end of the Republic. The frame hanger is marked "Foster Bros Boston". This frame maker could have mounted this cameo or maybe even sold the piece complete themselves as they did provide decorative pieces in their early catalogs. Foster Brothers Framing in Boston was a very well known shop and it's worth looking up it's history. Frame is just over 5 inches by 4 1/2 inches. The cameo itself is approximately 2 1/4 inches long by 1 3/4 inches wide. We have been selling on eBay for over 25 years and have launched this ID as a separate business to compliment our website. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Priority Mail shipping in the US. Buyer pay actual shipping costs. Good luck with your bid! Gold standards in most countries are 10k, 14k, 18k and 22k. These are averages and while a piece may be marked 14k please be aware that the gold content itself could have a variance of up to 1.5k. This means something marked 14k could be in a range from 12.5k to 15.5k. This is especially true of vintage pieces as technology wasn?t as precise. With gemstones, we guarantee everything described as a diamond has been tested. With colored gemstones however, particularly when small secondary stones, we make our best efforts to be accurate in the description but there could be some variance as to what the stone is. Colored stones of nominal value and semi-precious stones can?t be accurately tested unless sent to an organization such as GIA. If you have any concerns about colored stones in a specific piece, please contact us before bidding.
