Description: Original 1944 British Made MECo 1944 Pouch For US Meat Can or Mess Kit + Strap Pouch shows signs of use and wear. The strap has faint markings but still can be seen. British Made MECo 1944 pouches were used by British paratroopers and commando units during World War II. They came in a variety of styles, including: Basic pouch: A rectangular pouch in jungle green with a metal toggle closure and a lid that overhangs the front and sides. It also has a broad cotton webbing belt loop stitched to the back, but detached at the bottom. Magazine pouch: A seven-pocket pouch that could hold Sten magazines, with each pocket closed by a pointed flap and fastener. Ammo pouch: A 1937 pattern pouch that could hold pistol ammo or a compass. If you have been following my listings, you know for the last few months I have been pulling things out of a warehouse and several large buildings from a collector/enthusiasts that was with the 173rd Airborne Brigade and stationed in Germany after the Vietnam war. He retired in 1990 and returned home to West Virginia.
