The surface of the pocket watch is decorated with shippo-yaki (cloisonne ware). The legendary bird, the phoenix, has long been used as a motif in imperial ornaments. The watch, case and accessories are marked with chrysanthemum. In Japan, this is the family crest symbolizing the emperor or imperial family. It is a very beautiful watch.
