Description: This small cast model is of the Roman 'Colosseum or Coliseum' that was originally called the 'Flavian Amphitheatre' in ancient times. It was commissioned by Emperor Vespasian in 72 AD and got it's nickname 'Colosseum' from the Colossus sheet bronze statue standing next to it of the god Sol with radiant crown. This statue was the same basic size as our Statue of Liberty. Many gladiatorial games were held there as well as naval combat simulations. This cast white model of the 'Colosseum' is 5 and 3/4 inches wide and 3 and 1/2 inches tall and was acquired by me when I was in Rome a number of years ago. So obviously I can add in shipping to the cost. The ingenious way it was designed allowed it to empty out of it's 50,000 Roman gladiatorial game spectators in only 10 minutes. " I have about 200 new custom made and designed items I will put up for sale, as well as my sword and sandal movie prop collection, my military miniature figure collection painted by Russian masters, my World War II collection, my ancient coin and ancient military artifact collection and other various military "militaria" items". These will all be listed under the Terry Nix Collection III in the near future, so please keep checking back or you will miss that one of a kind item.
