They sometimes consisted of a mock fight between two divisions. Augustus and subsequently Hadrian ordered that the infantry and cavalry were to march out three times a month ten miles from the camp and ten miles back, fully armed and equipped. Decursio on this coin probably refers Nero’s participation in mock military maneuvers in the circus. Nero became the ruler of the Roman Empire after the death of his adopted father, the Emperor Claudius and he ruled until he killed himself, having either assassinated or been abandoned by his allies.Famously known for the apocryphal story that he fiddled while Rome burned in a great fire, Nero has bacame one of Rome's most infamous rulers, notorious for his cruelty and debauchery. During his rule, he murdered his own mother, Agrippina the Younger; his first wife, Octavia; and allegedly, his second wife, Poppaea Sabina.Yet, despite the numerous charges, there is evidence that Nero enjoyed some level of popular support. The name sestertius is a combination of semis, meaning half, and tres, meaning three, which when combined with an adjectival termination means three with the last equal half resulting in two and a half, the coin's original value in asses.
