Description: "The Ancient Khmer Empire" is a 295 page, 9.25"x12" hardcover written by Lawrence Palmer Briggs and published in 1951 by The American Philosophical Society. This is the first edition. The author inscribed and signed the ffep, dated 1951. It's a history of empire (802-1431 located in what's now northern Cambodia. There are black-and-white illustrations throughout. A poem written, inscribed and signed by Briggs titled Take Me Back to Mandalay is laid in, as is a 1946 newspaper clipping about the author. The book is in acceptable condition due to a marginal moisture stain and accompanying wrinkles visible at the top of all pages. The dust jacket also shows small moisture stains at various spots, small edge tears and chips, a hole near the foot of the spine. The blue cloth boards are bumped at the back bottom corner, stained at the front top corner. There's a bookplate to the front pastedown.
