Description: This gorgeous Afghan Carnelian and Silver ring was handcrafted during the mid 1900's in Central Asia along the old Silk Road trade routes. It is vintage, tribal jewelry - not a new reproduction. More measurements are listed at the end of this description. The band has ornately-incised details along the crown and sides. The carnelian stone virtually glows. It has a very small chip in one corner that I didn't notice until I was looking at the photos - that's how hard it is to see. Regardless, I've discounted this ring here because of it. This style of ring was called Aqeeq - perhaps referring to the red stone. They were said to attract positive energies that were specifically tailored to the wearer. That meant that even though these rings were passed down for generations, the new owner would attract the beneficial energy meant specifically for them. The sturdy band was made of 80% silver and does not bend. This ring has a warm-age patina, and virtually no wear-patterns except for the chip already noted. Please note that patina reflects the light when photographed, so items look brighter in images than they really are.
