Description: This auction is for a VINTAGE E. C. STEARNS & CO. SYRACUSE, NY HOG TAMER. I had never seen one of these, so I Googled it. These were used by farmers to perform minor surgery on hogs to prevent the hogs from rooting, and causing damage to fields. You can look up the details, but it's kinda goory. The patent for the device was issued in 1900. The tool is in good shape >> the handle still has good spring to it and the cutting portion contacts the wood portion evenly. For tool collectors, and especially E. C. Stearns collectors!
