Signed GOFER Israel ~Mid-Century ~Glazed Ceramic ~Wall Plaque ~Tray ~Dish Hand Made Vintage from the 1950-60s Depicts a face surrounded by flowers. The design is timeless: it is very modern, yet retains the influence of ancient art. It is very Art Deco and Picasso, at the same time. This is one of a kind piece of early Israeli pottery art by a pair of very talented artists potters. Pnina and Avraham GOFER began working and creating beautiful art since the beginning of their marriage. In the early 1950's, they started by designing and creating enamel jewelry. In 1956 they moved on to other ways to express their artistic talent and opened a ceramic workshop. This incredibly beautiful and expressive piece of art, is but one example of their vision and talent. This tray displays a very fine nuanced combination of colors and textures and gives a 3-dimensional feel through the employment of a masterful carving technique. There is a great vitality to this piece! DIMENSIONS, approximately: 6” Wide x 8.5” Long x 1.5” High 153 mm x 220 mm x 40 mm This tray plaque is signed on the back “GOFER” in both English and Hebrew along with the words “Israel” and “Hand Made”.
