Description: Vtg 20s 30s Rayon Nylon Stockings Hosiery Weiss Knit FULL BOX of 12 Pair Size 10 Vintage hosiery. New old stock. Weiss-Knit. Full box containing twelve pairs. All are unworn. Hosiery size 10. Color listed as "COPPER-GLO". It is more of a taupe. Rayon with cotton reinforced toe and heel. These stockings pre-date the seamed stocking era of the 40s and 50s. The paper labels have a decidedly art deco palette and design. One packet of six is completely undisturbed; its paper band shows a bit of wear but is still intact around the six pairs. The other bundle is missing the band but all are in factory fold and labels are complete. Rayon stockings were introduced in the 1920s. They are not as lightweight as Nylon. Nylon stockings were introduced in the late 1930s; they were a huge hit at the 1939 New York World's Fair. Rayon may be a little heavier than Nylon but it has a heavenly feel; it is much closer to the texture and touch of silk. It is a misconception that all early stockings/hosiery had seams and Cuban heels. In fact, they did not. Seams and Cuban heels were popular in the 40s and 50s as wearers were enamored of the illusion of length given by the seams and the shape of the Cuban heel. Payment within 3 days of first invoice. After 72 hours, unpaid items will be referred to the Resolution Center. Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
